Callaloo (Amaranthus viridis) is a vibrant, leafy green vegetable prized for its tender, broad leaves and rich, earthy flavor. Frequently enjoyed in Caribbean cuisine, it’s perfect for steaming, sautéing, or adding to soups and stews. Broadleaf callaloo is a nutritious leafy green that is not only delicious but also offers numerous health benefits, including high levels of vitamins A and C, iron, and antioxidants. Its broad, tender leaves can be harvested young for best flavor and texture.

Growing Zones: 5
Planting Time: Late spring to early summer.
Sun Requirements: Full sun; at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Spacing: Space plants 12-18 inches apart in rows that are 24-36 inches apart.

To ensure plants arrive safe due to winter here in Zone 5, we will ship plants in May 2026.

It's important to harden off plants when they arrive to ensure they acclimate to the outdoor weather and ensure a more successful growing season.
