Growing Instructions for Cauliflower in Zone 5:

Planting Time: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, or direct sow outside 2-4 weeks before the last frost.

Sun Requirements: Cauliflower thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day.

Soil Preparation/Fertilizing: Use well-draining soil enriched with compost. A soil pH of 6.0 to 7.0 is ideal. Incorporate a balanced fertilizer into the soil before planting.
Spacing: Space plants 18-24 inches apart in rows that are 30-36 inches apart to allow for proper air circulation.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply once a week, increasing during dry spells.

Days to Harvest: Typically, cauliflower takes 70-100 days from planting to harvest, depending on the variety.

Harvest: Harvest when the heads are firm and tight, and before the flowers begin to open. Cut the head from the plant with a sharp knife, leaving a few leaves around it for protection.
