Eggplant, known for its glossy purple skin and mild, creamy flesh, is a staple in cuisines around the world. Versatile and hearty, it shines when roasted, grilled, or slow-cooked in savory dishes. The scientific name for Eggplant Black Beauty is Solanum melongena.

Growing Zones:

Planting Time:
Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost or transplant outdoors after the soil temperature reaches at least 20°C (68°F).

Sun Requirements:
Eggplant requires full sun, ideally 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Soil Preparation/Fertilizing:
Prepare well-draining, fertile soil enriched with organic matter. A balanced fertilizer can be applied at planting and throughout the growing season.

Space plants 18-24 inches apart in rows that are 30 inches apart to allow for good air circulation.
