Description: Kale Winterbor F1 (Borago oleracea) is a variety of curly-leaved kale known for its cold hardiness and robust flavor. This leafy green is packed with vitamins and is ideal for winter harvesting.

Growing Instructions for Zone 5 Canada:

Growing Zones: Zone 5

Planting Time: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost or sow directly in the garden in early spring or late summer.

Sun Requirements: Full sun to partial shade (at least 6 hours of sunlight daily).

Soil Preparation/Fertilizing: Prep soil with organic compost and ensure good drainage. Fertilize with a balanced organic fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.

Spacing: Space seeds or seedlings 12-18 inches apart in rows.

Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging.

Days to Harvest: Approximately 55-80 days from planting to harvest.

Harvest: Harvest leaves from the outside of the plant as needed, allowing the inner leaves to continue growing.

Harden Off plants for planting outdoors 

Seedlings will be shipped in plug packs or 2 - 3 inch pots. Photos are reflective of plants growing on the farm or examples of grown seedlings, not what will be shipped or picked up.
