Roselle, known for its ruby-red calyxes, boasts a tart, cranberry-like flavor perfect for teas, jams, and syrups. Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, it is celebrated both for its taste and wellness benefits.

Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) requires a warm, tropical climate; it thrives in temperatures between 70°F to 90°F (21°C to 32°C). The plant prefers well-drained, fertile soil with a pH level between 6.0 to 7.0. To start, plant seeds in well-spaced rows after the last frost date to ensure optimal growth.

Water the plants regularly, especially during dry periods, as Roselle requires consistent moisture for healthy development. Fertilizing with a balanced fertilizer can enhance growth and yield. The plants can grow to about 5-7 feet tall and will produce vibrant red calyxes approximately 6-8 weeks after flowering.

Harvest the calyxes when they are fully red and firm, typically in late summer to early fall, to enjoy their unique flavor and health benefits.

To ensure plants arrive safe due to winter here in Zone 5, we will ship plants in May 2026.

To ensure the growing success of plants, please ensure to harden off plants before planting outdoors.

Seedlings will be shipped in plug packs or 2 - 3 inch pots. Photos are reflective of plants growing on the farm or examples of grown seedlings, not what will be shipped or picked up.
